Abstract

Parent patent describes tyre tread patterns for agricultural tractors featuring heavy section transverse ribs and with subsidiary ribs or blocks of less height in the intervening spaces. Addition claims such patterns where the axes of the major tread ribs are parallel with each other but inclined at 30-60 degrees w.r.t. the circumferential axis of the tyre and which feature subsidiary lesser ribs or tread blocks also aligned parallel to the primary ribs. Esp. for use in pairs of wheels fitted with tyres of opposing directions of rib offset to balance the side thrust and complement the forward thrust. Progressive contact with the ground improves the entry of each rib into soft soil. The radial overlap of adjacent ribs provides a smoother ride over hard surfaces. The self cleaning characteristics of the original tread pattern are maintained.
