Abstract

An appts. for separating entrained liq. from a gas operates by pptn. of the liq. onto a wall surface as the combined gas-liq. flow passes over this surface. The wall surface comprises a large number of depressions, extending as channels along the wall surface transversely to the direction of flow. Pref., the wall surface is constituted of a large number of alternating depressions and raised portions parallel to one another and transversely to the flow direction; the succession of raised portions and depressions is much more frequent than that of the normal undulating or corrugated separator plate. The wall surface is pref. vertical. This arrangement ensures much improved sepn., as compared with an arrangement where a thin film is able to form uniformly over the sepn. plates.
