Abstract

The effect of the effluent and of the activated sludge on the BOD of biological clarifying plant is determined after the oxygen concentration has been raised by stirring it to near the saturation point. The BOd is measured for samples of activated sludge (AS) alone and for mixtures of AS with pure water and of AS with effluent. The readings are plotted and used for the optimized control of the plant.
