Abstract
The reactor core and directly associated machinery and plant are within a spherical containment tank with an annular gallery-type flooding tank whose capacity is sufficient for the pressure vessel contg. the core to be completely immersed under emergency conditions. To improve the overall system integrity esp. by allowing repair work in the flooding tank this is subdivided by radial walls into subtanks, these walls having their top edges below the normal water level. Transfer ports, with stop valves, in each wall have smaller cross sections than the flood drain pipe, from the individual subtanks.
