Abstract

Protease in concd. aqs. solns (such as those obtd. by ion-exchange purifn. of the culture fluids of Bacillus subtilis or Bacillus licheniformus) is stabilized and pptd. by adding lactalbumin and/or dried skim milk powder as stabilizing agent (pref. in an amt. of 2-20, esp. 5-15% of the wt or protease soln) and pptg. the enzyme at elevated temp by the addn. of a salt, pref. sodium sulphate. The lactalbumin and/or dried skim milk powder minimizes losses of enzyme activity, but does not interfere with the pptn. of the enzyme.
