Abstract

Vessels turned by a primary drive mechanism contain internal shafts engaged by an external system of gears or a belt driven either by an independent motor or from the primary drive via a variable speed gear box. Pref. the speed of rotation of each internal shaft can be adjusted by using interchangeable gears or pulleys or by a gear box and reversed if desired w.r.t. the drum motion. Suitable for tumbling vessels with contra-rotating internal brushes or blades for deflashing rubber or plastic mouldings. Arrangement is simpler than when independent motors are used for each shaft, and more versatile than for machines where the internal shaft motions are a fixed ratio of the primary drum drive speed and direction.
