Abstract
Each spacer grating is of "pigeonhole" construction, the webs of the X and Y sets having vertical slots in their upper and lower edges respectively which are mated at the intersection lines. Each web consists of a number of adjacent bowed sections, the tops of the convex bows being in line and with spring tabs protruding into the concave side of the bows; each rod is supported in its mesh in the grating at four points. At the cross lines of the mesh the webs have pairs of mating tabs forming a cross at each intersection and onto these crosses are slid the base plates of pairs of horn shaped deflector plates, these base plates having crossed slots matching the crossed tabs; they are then welded to the tabs. The horns are straight and diverge at approx 60 degrees to tapered points which are aligned in plain view with the spaces between the spring fingers and the main faces of the webs.
