Abstract

Satd. polyesters modified with polysiloxanes blocks are produced by reacting alkyl- and/or aryl-substd polysiloxanes with SiOR gps. (in which R is lower alkyl) with polyesters contg. OH gps at elevated temp. opt in the presence of a solvent and pref. of a catalyst, forming a block copolymer, with elimination of ROH. Satd. polyesters with OH no 60-350 and polysiloxane blocks, with 0.25-0.70 mole SiOR gps./100 g are used in 1.25-0.8 (1:1) molar ratio w.r.t. the reactive gps. These polyesters are esp. useful for the mfr of baking enamels, which have high elasticity (flexibility), good deep drawing props, excellent resistance to weathering and show little or no yellowing or chalking.
