Abstract

Gel comprises a foaming agent (I), pref. Na lauryl or myristyl sulphate, a film-forming agent (II), esp. a carboxyvinyl or methacrylic polymer, glycerol, menthol (and/or peppermint oil and/or spearmint oil), saccharin and mineral salts e.g. MgCl2, MgSO4, Na or Mg citrate or NaCl. Gel contains no abrasived which may damage the dental enamel, has improved cleaning effect because of (I) esp. in the gaps between teeth and (II) provides a temporary protective layer. An exemplified gel comprises Na laurylsulphate 1.5, Na salt of Carbopal 934, 2 glycerol 10, saccharin 0.25, MgCl2 1, menthol 0.08 and H2O to make 100.
