Abstract

Push-pull cable transmission, for non-linear path, consists of a sheath within which the cable is movable. The rubbing surface of the sheath or cable consists of a first thermoplastic material which is either coated, impregnated or loaded with a polyfluorocarbon plastic pref. PTFE or a material contg it. The first thermoplastic has a higher resistance to compression than the fluorocarbon material. Both rubbing surfaces may be so constituted or one may be bare metal. The first thermoplastic is a polyamide, polyacetal, polyolefin, or polyester. This may be loaded e.g. with a dispersion of PTFE and vinylidene chloride copolymer in volatile liq. The PTFE being a major proportion. The surface may be applied by extrusion. Effective self-lubrication is achieved with increased operational life and economy in the use of expensive PTFE.
