Abstract

Yarn is treated e.g. by dipping and fed by feed rolls through a guide to a ring and traveller and a U-shaped lever pivoted centrally has an upper arm carrying a cutter upstream of the feed rolls and a lower arm carrying a feeler which engages the yarn downstream of the feeler. When the yarn breaks the lever pivots under the action of weight so that the cutter cuts the yarn upstream of the feed roll. In the improvement the lever is pivotal on a common shaft extending along several yarn processing stations and the shaft is rotationally oscillated by pref. a cam-mechanism so that a radial pin on the shaft intermittently engages a stop of the lever to pivot the lever so that the feeler is moved into and out of contact of the yarn. Pref. the cam mechanism is adjustable to vary the amplitude of oscillation. The mechanism is simple and several processing stations can be controlled by a single unit.
