Abstract

Partially opened fibres are fed pref. from a flat seed surface to a carding cylinder by a worker roll, which co-operates with the carding cylin der to card the fibres. The carding cylinder is arranged in a housing having upper and lower parts and presenting an inner surface, around the carding cylinder, which has helical ribs defining helical channels. The channels act to guide the fibres in a helical path around the carding cylinder. Pref. the lower part of the housing has apertures for trash removal. The device is compact and provides efficient carding.
