Abstract

Moulds where the walls surrounding the cavity are defined by false frames which can be withdrawn parallel to the plane of the cavity. The frames are held between platens which can separate by retraction of the rams which otherwise provide the mould clamping forces. Pref. the platens are fitted with false plates which define the faces of the moulded plaques and feature pins which bridge the cavity to perforate the moulding. The plates can also be withdrawn from between the platens. Pref. several such cavities are served one behind the other by a common clamping force. The injection manifold is a drilled bolt which can reciprocate to shear the sprue gates. For mfr. of printed circuit boards etc. requiring perforations for e.g. locating components. Sets of edge frames and face plates can be readily withdrawn and replaced by others to reduce cycle delays. False plates readily changed to obtain different perforation patterns.
