Abstract

The parent patent describes artificial grass matting comprising a rot-proof fibrous (e.g polyamide) mat which may be impregnated with adhesive (e.g. acrylic resin) and which may contain (e.g. 15%) thermofusible fibres which are fused to bond adjacent fibres together to increase the tenacity of the mat. The mat is retained on an area of ground by natural grass groving through the mat. The improvement comprises securing (e.g. by needling) one or more reinforcing layers of woven or non-woven synthetic or natural fabric to the mat. Pref. the reinforcing layers comprises a net of siliconne filaments having a spacing of 5 mm in the longitudinal direction and 20 mm in the diagonal direction. The stability and wear resistance of the mat is improved.
