Abstract

Multiple screw extruder where the output from each screw tip is fed to a different outlet die. Pref. any flow differentials due to variations in die path length are balanced by restricting the shorter path(s), pref. by extending the die lands. Pref. the outlet passages can be adjusted individually w.r.t. the screw tips and their axes. Claimed for extrusion blow moulding machines using multiple parisons. Overall die length said to be shorter than systems which split a common extrudate to different dies, to thus facilitate integration with a blow moulding system and independent balancing of the parison extrusion rates.
