Abstract

Before the sea water enters the plant it is treated with SO2, sulphites or bisulphites to remove dissolved oxygen. The acid reaction of the addition is then neutralised ot pH7 with NaOH. Method is simpler and cheaper than in prior art. Tartar inhibitors e.g., polyphosphates may also be used.
