Abstract

The electron beam leaving the deviator of a particle accelerator equipment or a radiotherapy unit, passes through a first diffuser foil so that the max. energy density is central, followed by a second diffuser foil with a central shadow zone so that at a predetermined distance, the irradiation energy density is uniform, esp. over an area between 2 x 2 cm and 30 x 30 cm. This area depends on relative geometries of the components and is relatively easily regulated by an additional collimator system.
