Abstract

Parent patent describes a bulk materials mixer/conveyor using a twin-compartment hopper with independent shutters feeding into a screw conveyor in a flexible conveying tube. A dosing pipe is now fitted to carry an additional ingredient at a measured rate and by gravity feed into the screw conveyor, pref. upstream of the feed shutters. The plant delivers a continually homogeneous and constantly proportioned mix. even after process shutdowns, as all mix components are gravity fed. The mixer is ideal for blending raw materials for plastic extrusion using the dosing pipe for a small proportion of colouring additive.
