Abstract

1284535 Proportioning and mixing particulate materials NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 3 Sept 1969 [13 Sept 1968 28 April 1969] 43562/68 and 21549/ 69 Heading B1C [Also in Division B8] Apparatus for proportioning and mixing particulate materials comprises containers 11, 12 feeding respective pairs of metering rollers 17, 18 and 19, 20. A motor (15, Fig. 2 not shown) drives a speed reduction gearbox 23 from which the rollers 17, 18 are driven directly while those 19, 20 are driven through gears 25, 26 and variable speed gearbox 24. In another embodiment (see Fig. 3, not shown) the rollers are driven by adjustable throw cranks (16), connecting rods (17), cocking levers (18) and freewheel devices (19). The rollers are preferably covered with resilient material such as foam rubber or plastic. The container 11 may have a vertical, longitudinally adjustable partition (33). The apparatus may be used to mix particulate plastics or, mounted on a vehicle, seed and fertilizer.
