Abstract

The pattern drum has two ratchet drives and a synchronisation chain wheel with cams, the chain wheel is moved by its ratchet wheel and pawl, as is the drum. Mechanical links are provided between these, one of which can override the other. The chain wheel advances to operate a lever, connected to the patter drum drive, to control the movement of the latter. A manually operated lever is provided to zero the pattern drum if a fault has occured in the stocking. This disengages some of the levers so that the drum is quickly returned to its start position, and the hand lever automatically reset.
