Abstract

Powder, e.g. flour, clay, etc., is released from a cyclone, by a mechanism comprising two butterfly valves in series, (at either end of a vertical tube at bottom of cyclone cone), which are operated consecutively by a cam mechanism, so as to prevent inhalation of air. Pref. the cam comprises a groove, followed by cam-rollers on sprung hinged lever arms; the groove is circular over 240 degrees, and has a notch which engages the cam-rollers, thus folding the lever arms, and briefly opening each valve in turn. The device is simple, and does not require frequent maintenance.
