Abstract
A quantity of fodder is packaged in a digestible plastic (pref. PVA) air tight envelope, the plastic being resistant to acids produced by lactic fermentation at 35 degrees C and being soluble in stomach acids at ca. 41 degrees C. Pref. the plastic contains aromatic flavouring additives, vitamins medications etc. Ensilage of the fodder takes place in the envelope, and the package can be fed directly to an animal (e.g. dairy cow) as the plastic envelope can be eaten. Handling and storing is simplified and can be carried out automatically.
