Abstract

A sheet or a stack of two or more sheets of glass, is heated for producing convex bending, by the continuous passage of the sheet or stack of sheets on a roller conveyor into a furnace where it is heated before being introduced into a forming chamber. The speed of the rollers of the conveyor supporting the sheet or stack of sheets is modified during its introduction into and discharge out of the furnace, in such a way as to cause the time of passage through the furnace of the leading part of the sheet or the stack of sheets to be changed w.r.t. the trailing part and thus obtain a temp. difference between the leading and trailing parts, such that at the instant of convex bending, the sheet or stack of sheets has a uniform temp.
