Abstract

Means for ffeeding a band of molten glass to a forming machine comprises an inclined trough under the conical bottom outlet of a glass melt reservoir. The part at of the bottom of the trough directly below the inflow has a spherical recess. The glass overflows from the recess pref. over a semicircular section step. The design ensures that no air bubbles are entrapped in the glass whilst also yielding uniform thickness band material for coiling into glass tubing.
