Abstract

Compsn. comprises (a) a fluoroelastomer e.g. a VdF/TF E/hexafluoropropene terpolymer; (b) >=1 divalent metal (hydr)oxide or mixt. thereof with a metal salt of a weak acid; (c) an arom. polyhydroxy cpd. e.g. bisphenol-A; and (d) a quat. ammonium cpd. having one of the formulae (I) - (VI) below: where R1 is 1-20C alkyl, a carbocyclic or heterocyclic gp. or 7-20C aralkyl; R2 is H, 1-12C alkyl, a carbocyclic or heterocyclic gp., phenyl (opt. substd.), 7-12C aralkyl, 1-12C alkoxy, benzyloxy, hydroxy, carboxy, alkoxycarbonyl, acyl, benzoyl or cyclohexylcarbonyl; R3 is 1-20C alkyl is 7-20C aralkyl; R4 and R5 are H or lower alkyl; A is alkylene or phenylene; B is alkylene; and X- is an anion e.g. halide, hydroxylate, sulph(on)ate. 1,3-Dibenzyl-2-methylimidazolium chloride is suitable. Used in mfr. of fluororubbers.
