Abstract

Magnetic sheets are produced by (a) coating a flexible support sheet with a dispersion of magnetisable particles in a soln. of a binder, (b) eliminating the solvent from the coating, (c) opt. calendering and (d) curing the binder at an elevated temp. The binder consists of 0-75% wt. film-forming vinyl polymer and 25-100% wt. of a mixt. of polyurethanes consisting of >=1 of polyesters or polyethers with terminal hydroxyl groups and a polyisocyanate partly blocked by an active volatile methylene cpd. and having a reactive isocyanate group in its molecule. The sheets have a very high resistance to abrasion. The binder-contg. dispersion does not cure prematurely so that very uniform magnetic coatings can be obtained.
