Abstract

In a zinc/air cell comprising a bipolar electrode and a microporous membrane contacting the anode, a spacer is introduced between the microporous membrane and the anode layer, the spacer being capable of elastic deformation and being attached on its one face firmly to the microporous membrane. The spacer maintains a constant spacing in the anolyte chamber preventing the variable output associated in prior art with the dissolving out by the electrolyte of deposited zinc oxide on discharge.
