Abstract

Granular material distributor consists of a rotatable drum with an annular groove on its periphery, a feed tube for supplying a narrow stream of granular material to the upper part of this groove and advancing it in the groove without contacting its bottom or side walls, a flow control register advancing radially in the groove in front of the tube relative to the direction of drum rotation, a slit between the lower edge of the register and the annular surface of the groove for controlling the discharge of the granules under the register, a seal situated behind the tube relative to the direction of drum rotation for cooperation with the groove to prevent the flow of granules in the groove in the reverse direction to the drum rotation, and a chute for continuously receiving the free granules of material from the groove of the rotatable drum. The distributor is esp. suitable for use with an automatic machine for manufacturing potato chips. The distributor uniformly distributes a granular material, such as salt.
