Abstract

A core yarn is advanced through a rotating hollow spindle and an effect yarn is wound around a gimping needle at the entrance to the spindle such that the effect yarn is wound around the core yarn to form an inter yarn structure, and intermittently the advance of the inter yarn structure is arrested (pref. for a few tenths of sec.) whilst the gimping needle is moved along the core yarn such that the effect yarn forms a lobe. Pref. the advance rate of the inter yarn structure is controlled by a yarn reserve, forming device and the effect yarn can be arranged to produce snarls and loops. Pref. a tying yarn is subsequently wrapped around the inter yarn structure and the spinning needle is carried on a cam driven lever.
