Abstract

A self-lubricating valve stem for an aerosol spray is moulded from a mixture of acetal resin and a fluoro carbon. The mixture of resins is mouldable, dimensionally stable, and self-lubricating, and allows the prodn. of valve stems suitable for use with dry powdered aerosols. The fluorocarbon is pref. present in the form of a powder or fibres which may be oriented, in a proportion of 3-40% dispersed in the acetal resin. It may be PTFE. The acetal resin may be a polyformaldehyde with a melting point of ca 174 degrees C. which can be moulded at 185 degrees-210 degrees C.
