Abstract

Glass melt is discharged vertically through an outlet portion the base of a vessel and flows through a feed pipe to use. Striations or heterogeneities in the surface are intercepted and concentrated in a specific zone of the outlet stream, pref. by a baffle on an adjustable shaft. The striations flow a long the surface of the baffle and may be directed into a part of the product which is to be cut off as scrap in processing.
