Abstract

Fluid snow removing and deicing compsns contain 30-80% of >=1 monohydroxy alcohol (pref. methanol), 10-70% of K2SO3, sodium acetate, or urea or mixtures of urea and formamide and 0-50% of a polyol (pref. ethylene glycol). Esp. compsn comprises 40-60% methanol 10-30% urea and 20-40% ethylene glycol. The liqs. are used to treat road surfaces, and are easy to pray, quicker acting than NaCl soln and much less corrosive.
