Abstract

Stacked, plastic sheathed palettes of bottles are first inverted so that the bottles are neck down and after initial shaking are loaded by fork lift on to carriages which travel on pairs of rails arranged in parallel rows and columns to fill a large volume with horizontal sets of rails. The inverted blocks of bottles progress along these rails over a period of 3-4 months, during the last week of which daily reactivation takes place over short periods of at least one second, using vibrator/shock drives integral with the carriages.
