Abstract

A circular knitting machine has a cylinder and dial in which the cylinder wall grooves are machined, into which hardened inserts are placed, to act as guides for the needle. These are positioned by a circular groove around the cylinder. The top of the insert is tapered on each side, so that there is more room for the needle and threads. The same system applies to the dial.
