Abstract

Pack comprising two hemi-cylindrical shapes joined by an integral longitudinal hinge, and able to close like a pod. Pref. the ends are domed and the lips near the hinge have ribs which butt to prevent the main shells from closing completely together. Pref. one shell is flattened to provide a stable base for the back. Pref. empty packs can be stacked when open. Claims packs made by thermoforming expanded polystyrene sheet, the hinge comprising an oriented, compresed zone between twin thermoformed shells. Esp., for packaging fruit or vegetables of rounded cross-section. The pack is held by a sleeve or wrapper of transparent film or tape which allows the contents to be inspected through the partially open mouth of the pack.
