Abstract

Initiators for lactam anionic polymerisation Cpds. contain is not 1 carbocyclic aromatic ring which is substituted by is not 1 halogen atom which has been activated by nucleophilic substitution. Claimed initiators are a halogenated benzonitrile, a bis(halo)sulphone, 4,4'-difluorobenzophenone and 2,7-dichlorothianthrene tetraoxide. The polymerisation system has a longer pot life. The new lactam polymers have thermally stable end-groups.
