Abstract

Parent patent disclosed a die for extrusion of thermoplastic mesh or netting by subjecting a divergent tubular extrudate to toothed chopping jaws which reciprocated to bear against the die land across which the extrudate is moving. Addition modifies the chopper geometry so that the chopper teeth reciprocate close alongside the edge of the die land instead of against its surface, to obtain a shear cutting action resulting in reduced wear on the teeth. Suitable for producing tubular mesh with regular or interrupted patterns from thermoplastics rubbers, thermosetting resins or regenerated cellulose.
