Pref. the second material is injected or intrusion moulded into the residual cavity under conditions which result in impregnation or fusion of the common boundaries of the components into an integral unit. Esp. for moulding items in rubber or similar elastic crosslinked materials to incorporate one or more sub components of different hardness or extensibility, the integral moulding is quicker and neater than stitched or glued assemblies. Prod. is used for moulding a swimmer's foot flipper with a webbed rubber paddle and softer material lining the cavity for the person's foot.
