Abstract

The material is suspended as suitable size particles in a liquid to obtain as high a solids content as possible either with or without a wetting agent. The pulp is then treated with acid to lower the pH to below 1.5 and the pulp treated at a temp. between 70 degrees C and the boiling point until a suitable quanity of Fe has been dissolved. From time to time a reprecipitation agent for Fe, comprising a Na, Li, K or ammonium cpd. is added in suitable quantities to precipitate the Fe while the Ni and Co remain in soln.
