Abstract

Proportion of CO, nitrogen oxides and unburnt hydrocarbons in exhaust gases from an IC engine is decreased by adding to the gasoline a liquid organometallic complex (tricarbonyl methyl cyclopentadienyl manganese) whigh decomposes in the combustion chamber (to form catalytic oxides). Pref. 30-120 ppm. organometallic cpd. are added to gasoline.
