Abstract

Composite tubing comprising a tubular core of (annealed) Al coated with close fitting film or layer of a plastic material, clad in turn by a PVC sheath. Pref. both the coating and the sheath comprise plasticized PVC compsns., applied so that the greater adhesion is between the film and the core pipe. Pref. the film coating is deposited by passing the core tubing through a fluid soln., bed or melt, and the sheath is applied by extrusion coating. Esp. for conveying inflammable fuels from fuel oil to methane, at temp. up to 90 to 120 degrees C. The sheath provides toughness, easy colour coding and thermal insulation.
