Abstract

Nuclear fuels contg. at least one cpd. of a fissionable isotope are treated to reduce their viscosity and resistance to flow at the operating temps. of a reactor by incorporating an additive selected from gadolinium oxide, caesium dioxide, yttrium oxide, tungsten and/or molybdenum. The nuclear fuel consists of a cpd. pref. the oxide of uranium, plutonium and/or thorium and 0.1-5% wt. of the additive.
