Abstract

Al lithographic supports are improved by treating the surface with a diamine-N,N,N',N'-tetramethylene phosphonic acid, pref. an alkylene-diamine-N,N,N,'N' tetramethylene phosphinic acid, or a water-sol. deriv. The Al may be anodized. The phosphonic acid diamine or deriv. is applied to the Al to obtain a thickness of coating of 0.1 mg/dm2-4.3 mg/dm2. A photosensitive support is made by treating the Al support with the phosphonic acid, and then applying a layer of photosensitive polymer contg. a photo-insolubilizable polymer such as the condensation prod. of diethyl p-phenylene diacrylate and 1,4-di-beta-hydroxyethoxycyclohexane. The lithographic plates give good results, without spots, after many impressions have been made.
