Abstract

In vacuum packaging in thin plastic film envelopes, the mouth of the envelope is held clamped at spaced points across the width, allowing air to escape when vacuum is applied and affording support throughout the operation of a pair of welding bars until after restoration of atmospheric pressure. Appts. includes a vacuum chamber and a clamping device having >=1 bar with spaced grooves for the air escape.
