Abstract

Shaped articles of natural or synthetic polymers are rendered flame resistant by treating them (e.g. dipping followed by drying and heat-treatment) with a cpd. of formula where R is an opt. substd. hydrocarbon grp. and R1-4 are H or opt. substd. hydrocarbon grps. or part of a heterocyclic grp. formed with two grps. chosen from R1-4 and R. A is an inorg. or org. anion; n is 1, 2, 3 or 4: and m is the valency of A. S-methyl-N-methoxymethylthiuronium iodide is a suitable flame-proofing cpd.
