Abstract

Appts. for studying fluids flowing in a prodn. well. of the type comprising (a) an elongated body designed for suspension at the end of a cable in a borehole, with a central part of small section and two end parts of larger section, (b) a chamber for taking a sample of the fluids formed by a sleeve which can slide on the body so that it can be displaced from a first position where the central part is uncovered over its whole length and a second position in which it joins the end parts thereby forming the sampling chamber round the central part, with the novel feature that the appts. is provided with closure means for causing the sleeve to pass rapidly from the first to the second position so as to cut off a slice of the flowing fluid, together with means for opening the sampling chamber controlled from the surface by causing the sleeve to pass from the second to the first position.
