Abstract

The press appts. comprises a rotatable circular platform divided into 4 sectors A, B, C and D. The thermoplastic sheet is introduced at A, pre-heated at B, softened at C and pressed at D by revolving the platform. At D the softened sheet is clamped by a pair of mould halves which are supported by reciprocable platens. As the platform reaches station D tie bars locate through the platform as the mould halves come together and the sheet is formed by vacuum or pressure moulding. High speed operation is possible.
