Abstract

Twin-screw extrusion press for polymers with high mol wt. The materials are fed to a pump chamber, in which one or more pump screws are arranged and in which the material is compressed and softened by heating. The material is then pressed as a finished product through a mould aperture. The pump chamber is tubular and has no heating, the heat for softening the material being applied only after the material has left the screws.
