Abstract

Shaped aluminium articles contg. 1.0-3.0 wt.% Fe and 0.2 wt.% Si are first subjected to a thermal treatment pref. at >550 degrees C, and then anodically oxidised to produce a silvery grey colouration, which is uniform and reproducible. This method can be applied to decorative, outer or inner building linings, furniture, kitchenware, etc.
