Abstract

A method of preparing an antifoulant coating composition comprises mixing, just prior to applying the composition to a substrate, A Component "A" and a Component "B" characterized by Component "A" contg. a base formed of epoxy resin and a substance selected from aromatic pitch-contg. materials and thermoplastic hydrocarbon resins in proportions of 5 to 95 p.b.w. of epoxy resin to 95 to 5 p.b.w. of substance; and Component "B" contg. an Ni-contg. cpd. selected from polyamines and polyamides and capable of acting as a curing agent for an epoxy resin of the base and a solid organotin toxicant in proportions of 1 to 10 p.b.w. of toxicant for each p.b.w. of curing agent; the toxicant being of the general formula:- (RR'R"Sn)nX (in which R, R', R" are 1-8C alkyl, X is carboxylic group, and n is 1 or 2) the resulting mixture containing as active ingredients 90 to 60% wt. of cured base and 10 to 40% wt. of toxicant.
